While growing up in Morgan City, LA I was first introduced to chiropractic at a young age for lower back problems.  The chiropractic lifestyle made sense to me and I knew even before entering high school what I wanted to do with my life.  After attending Louisiana State University I completed my chiropractic degree at Parker College of Chiropractic in 1999.  Since then, I have enjoyed calling Lafayette home over the last decade.

I believe that in today’s world, doctors should be teachers.  We therefore look at ourselves as educators as well as doctors.  After ten years of practice, my goal is to empower every patient to control their own health, first through believing that health is in fact something that you can control.  We begin by addressing all facets of health: attitude, proper rest and of course, chiropractic.  Our chiropractic philosophy utilizes corrective care therapy with the intention of preventing illness before it manifests itself.  We treat the body with the intention of improving and enhancing the immune and nervous system thus preventing future ailments.

I have come to realize a simple fact while in practice - the power that made the body will heal the body.  If we allow this inborn power to work then we have every pill, potion, lotion, bolt, screw, etc… that we need for our body to heal already inside of us.  Chiropractic is a way to enhance and improve this inborn innate intelligence.

Chiropractic Physician

I was born and raised in Westlake, LA.  I attended McNeese State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  Following graduation I moved to Houston to begin training in chiropractic at Texas Chiropractic College.  After practicing in Texas for a period of time I have now found my way back home to settle down in Lafayette.  I love being back.

Not only am I a doctor of chiropractic, but a patient as well.  I was exposed to chiropractic at a young age and it has always been part of my life.  After being born premature and having a difficult delivery my mother was informed that it would be some time, probably a few years, until my neck was back to normal development.  I began chiropractic at 6 weeks old and after returning for a 3 month exam it appeared that my spine was back on track for normal development and I have been a faithful chiropractic patient ever since.

My goal at Pinhook Chiropractic is to educate and increase awareness to the public about the dangers of vertebral subluxation and the simple things we can do every day to live longer, healthier, happier lives.

Lifestyle Coaching Approach & Philosophy:  Providing Solutions…Restoring Hope…Transforming Lives

“I stand by the original meaning of the word doctor, which is "teacher".  As a doctor/teacher, it is important for me to teach my patients about a healthy lifestyle and the miraculous potential their body has to restore health and reverse chronic degenerative conditions which are the result of incorrect lifestyle choices. My encouragement for the patient is…Become the greatest version of yourself.”

Ricky Castaneda
Rehab Administrator/Chiropractic Assistant

I was born in Mercedes, TX and attended The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly USL) graduating with a BS in Sports Medicine and educated as an athletic trainer.

My first experience with chiropractic care was as the athletic trainer for the Louisiana Ice Gators.  Our athletes performed well and each coach made sure that chiropractic care was available before games and as needed.  My ten years of experience in minor league sports identified chiropractic care as an integral part of our sports medicine component of injury prevention, care, and rehabilitation.

Our goal is to educate patients on proper posture to maintain an active pain-free life in all movements at work, home and recreation.

We are committed to better health and serving you.  Call us today at  337-237-2273.
